How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

  1. A

Sige, Carmela. Bakit kailangan pang lumuwas ng Maynila?

Go ahead, Carmela. Why do we need to go all the way to Manila?

  2. B

Karamihan po sa mga bata, hindi pa nakakaluwas. Dahil dito, habambuhay po nila itong maaalala.

Most of the kids have never been to the city. Because of that, they'll remember it for the rest of their lives.

  3. A

Paano ang bus? Hindi 'yan kasya sa MOOE natin.

What about the bus? That won't fit in our school budget.

  4. B

Ipapahiram po ng munisipyo ang bus nila. Bukod pa rito, libre po ang National Museum.

The town hall will lend us its bus. On top of that, the National Museum is free.

  5. A

E 'yung consent forms ng mga magulang?

    And the parents' consent forms?

  6. B

Pirmado na po lahat, Ma'am. Isa na lang po ang kulang: ang pirma ninyo.

They're all signed, Ma'am. There's only one signature missing: yours.
