Day 96: Copied to the Boss

In the accounting office of a provincial bus company in Cubao, Zia (A), the new accountant, asks why Hilda (B), the bookkeeper of twenty years, hasn't spoken to her all morning.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

  1. A

Ate Hilda, galit po ba kayo? Buong umaga po kayong tahimik.

Ate Hilda, are you angry? You've been quiet all morning.

  2. B

No. Your corrections to my report were right.

  3. A

Then why won't you talk to me?

  4. B

It's not your correcting it that hurts. It's that you sent it to the boss without talking to me first.

  5. A

I'm sorry. I thought it would be faster to go straight to the boss.

  6. B

It was fast, all right, but I had to find out from an email. Next time, come to me first.
