Day 177: The Last One Off the Plane

At the airport, Marco (B) picks up his grandfather Floro (A), 72, who is back from visiting his daughter in Davao after the first plane ride of his life.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Marco, nakasakay na ako ng eroplano! Ang tapang ko, ano?

Marco, I've been on a plane now! Pretty brave, huh?

  2. B

E bakit po kayo ang huling lumabas?

Then why were you the last one off?

  3. A

Yumugyog noong lumapag! Sabi ng piloto, huwag tanggalin ang seatbelt.

It shook when we landed! The pilot said not to take off our seatbelts.

  4. B

Hanggang huminto lang po ang eroplano, Lolo.

That was only until the plane stopped, Lolo.

  5. A

Ah, kaya kalaunan, ako na lang ang nakaupo!

Oh, so that's why I ended up the only one still sitting there!
