Day 191 of 265

Day 191: It's All in Your Palm

Late at night, Ciring (A) notices that her granddaughter Shane (B) has been studying day and night, and asks her why.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Apo, bakit puspusan ang pag-aaral mo? Hatinggabi na!

Sweetie, why are you studying so hard? It's midnight!

  2. B

Kapag pumasa po ako, iskolar na ako!

If I pass, I'll get the scholarship!

  3. A

Akin na ang palad mo. Babasahin ko.

Give me your palm. I'll read it.

  4. B

Lola, sanaysay po ang kailangan ko, hindi hula!

Lola, what I need is an essay, not fortune-telling!

  5. A

Sabi rito, malaki ang tsansa mo, kung matatapos mo ang sanaysay.

It says here your chances are good, if you finish the essay.
