Day 260 of 265

Day 260: The Books That Never Leave

In the university library, Ian (A) and Steph (B), college seniors writing their thesis, find an old study they need and take it to the head librarian, Ma'am Patricia (C).

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Ma'am, sanggunian po namin ito sa thesis.

Ma'am, we're using this as a reference for our thesis.

  2. B

Kung puwede po sana, mahihiram po ba namin ito?

If it's all right, could we borrow it?

  3. C

Hindi lumalabas ang mga lumang aklat. Dito lang ninyo puwedeng basahin.

Old books don't leave the library. You can only read them here.

  4. A

Sige po, isasauli po namin bago magsara.

All right, we'll return it before closing time.

  5. B

Babanggitin din po namin sa thesis ang pinakamabait na librarian!

And we'll mention the kindest librarian in our thesis!
