Day 261 of 265

Day 261: Waiting Until She Graduates

After weeks of hesitating, Earl (A), who has been dating Sarah for three years, visits her father, Bobby (B), on his own.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Tito, wala na po akong alinlangan. Gusto ko pong pakasalan si Sarah.

Tito, I have no more doubts. I want to marry Sarah.

  2. B

Salungat ako riyan. Kolehiyo muna, hindi mo kaya ang gastos.

I'm against it. College comes first, and you can't afford the costs.

  3. A

    Mag-iipon po ako hangga't nag-aaral pa siya.

I'll save up for as long as she's still studying.

  4. B

Kung ganoon, hindi ako kontra. Panindigan mo iyan.

In that case, I'm not against it. Make sure you stand by that.

  5. A

    Opo, Tito. Pangako po.

    I will, Tito. I promise.
