How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Ano 'yan, Gerald?
What's that, Gerald? I'm going to talk to my doctor inside your tablet?
-
B
Opo, La.
Yes, La. You won't have to travel three hours to Manila anymore.

How will the doctor know if my foot is swollen when they can't even touch me?
-
B
Ipapakita po natin sa camera, La. Kita po niya agad kung maga.
We'll show it on the camera, La. The doctor can tell right away if it's swollen.

A
And my blood pressure? Doesn't the doctor need to put the cuff on my arm?
-
B
I'll take it with your BP monitor and read the numbers out to the doctor.

I'll try it, on one condition: you sit beside me, and you don't leave until it's over.
-
B
Opo, La, hindi po ako aalis. Kayo pa po ba ang iiwan ko?
Yes, La, I won't leave. As if I'd ever leave you.
