How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

  1. A

Mang Pilo, is this the sow? Her belly's already big.

  2. B

She's due next week, so the piglets are included in the price.

  3. A

Kasama nga po, pero sisenta mil? Paano po kung lima lang ang mabuhay?

Included, sure, but sixty thousand? What if only five survive?

  4. B

That's no ordinary bloodline. Nina, show him the records.

  5. C

Her vaccinations are complete, and she had eleven piglets in her last litter.

  6. A

Your granddaughter's good. Forty-five thousand, and all the piglets are mine.

  7. B

Fifty, and two piglets of my choosing stay with me once they're weaned.

  8. A

I'll take her. But Nina, also write down that I'm the first one you call when she gives birth.
