How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

A
Mang Pidyong, here's the notice: "In connection with complaints received by the barangay, the tree will be cut down."
-
B
I planted that in 1974, before there was even a road there. Who complained?
-
A
Mga truck driver po. Nakahilig na raw po ito sa kalsada.
Truck drivers. They say it's leaning over the road now.
-
B
Ano ba ang pinapayagan ng batas? Hindi ba puwedeng sanga lang ang putulin?
What does the law allow? Can't they just cut the branches?
-
A
Under the rules, the DENR inspects the tree before it decides.
-
B
Then I'll go with them for the inspection, and I'll even pay whoever trims the branches.

A
I'll put that in writing. I used to take shelter under it too, when I was little.
