How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

Doc, what are the results? It still sounds like there are crickets in my ears.
-
B
Kita mo itong bagsak sa 4,000 hertz? Maagang pagkabingi iyan dahil sa ingay.
See this dip at 4,000 hertz? That's early hearing loss, from noise.

Don't tell me I have to stop. We play three weddings every Saturday.
-
B
Who said you have to stop? Don't you want to still hear your own playing when you're old?
-
A
Paano po kung mag-earplugs ako? Baka po hindi ko marinig ang bokalista.
What if I wear earplugs? I might not hear the singer.
-
B
There are musician's earplugs, and the sound stays clear. How do you suppose my hearing survived the drums?
-
A
You're a drummer too? So that's why there are drumsticks behind your desk!
