Day 104: Ninety-Eight in Math

At their weekly tutoring session at his house, Elijah (B), a high school student who failed his last math exam, shows his tutor Nikki (A) his quarterly exam.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Ninety-eight? Ikaw mismo ang sumagot nito?

    Ninety-eight? You answered this yourself?

  2. B

Opo, ako po talaga! Na-perfect ko pa nga po ang word problems.

Yes, it was really me! I even got all the word problems right.

  3. A

E bagsak ka noong last quarter. Sige nga, paano mo sinagot 'tong number five?

But you failed last quarter. Go on, then, how did you answer number five?

  4. B

Ganito po: inuna ko 'yung parentheses, tapos saka ako nag-multiply.

Like this: I did the parentheses first, and then I multiplied.

  5. A

Tama! Grabe, ikaw nga talaga ang sumagot.

Correct! Wow, it really was you.

  6. B

So, Ate, 'yung Jollibee po na ipinangako ninyo?

So, Ate, what about the Jollibee you promised me?
