Day 126 of 215

Day 126: Wrong Group Chat

After a long meeting during which Shaira (B), a new hire, accidentally posted in the team's group chat that she was starving, her manager Allan (A) calls her over.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Shaira, halika muna. Nabasa ko 'yung message mo kanina.

Shaira, come here a minute. I saw your message earlier.

  2. B

Nakakahiya po talaga, Sir. Para po sana sa kaibigan ko 'yon.

I'm so embarrassed, sir. That was meant for my friend.

  3. A

Hindi nakakahiya 'yon, nakakatawa nga, e. Gutom na rin kaming lahat.

It's not embarrassing, it's funny. We're all starving too.

  4. B

Talaga po? Akala ko po papagalitan ninyo ako.

Really? I thought you were going to scold me.

  5. A

Bakit naman? Nag-order na ako ng pizza para sa buong team.

Why would I? I've already ordered pizza for the whole team.
