Day 127: Workout Upstairs at Dawn
After a week of thuds from the unit upstairs waking them at five every morning, Vanessa (B) has finally gone up to complain, and her roommate Shane (A) wants to know how it went.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

A
O, ano'ng sabi ng kapitbahay sa taas?
So, what did the neighbor upstairs say?
-
B
Workout video pala 'yon. Sabi niya, kalahating oras lang daw araw-araw.
It turns out it's a workout video. She said it's only half an hour a day.
-
A
Kalahating oras na kalabog, alas-singko ng umaga? Isang linggo na tayong puyat!
Half an hour of thumping at five in the morning? We've been losing sleep for a week!
-
B
Nag-sorry naman siya. Sinabi pa niyang puwede tayong sumali bukas!
She did apologize. She even said we could join her tomorrow!
-
A
Ano? Sasali tayo sa workout niya?
What? We're joining her workout?
-
B
E gising na rin naman tayo, 'di ba? Libre pa!
Well, we're up anyway, aren't we? And it's free!
