Day 130 of 215

Day 130: No Aircon Since Tarlac

On a night bus from Cubao to Vigan, with the aircon broken and windows that don't open, Ken (A) goes up front to talk to the driver, Tony (B).

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Manong, kanina pa po kami pinagpapawisan sa likod.

Manong, we've been sweating back there for a while now.

  2. B

Pasensiya na po kayo, sira ang aircon.

I'm sorry, the aircon is broken.

  3. A

Mula noong umalis tayo sa Tarlac, para na po kaming nasa sauna.

Ever since we left Tarlac, it's felt like we're in a sauna.

  4. B

Alam ko po. Kaya may ibang bus na pong naghihintay sa atin sa Urdaneta.

I know. That's why another bus is already waiting for us in Urdaneta.

  5. A

Talaga po? Gaano pa po katagal bago tayo makarating doon?

Really? How much longer until we get there?

  6. B

Isang oras na lang po. Konting tiis na lang po.

Just one more hour. Hang in there a little longer.
