Day 131 of 215

Day 131: First Time Giving Blood

The day before the Red Cross blood drive at their office, Lester (A), a first-time donor who hates needles, asks his officemate Ervin (B), who has donated twelve times, what to expect.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Pare, first time kong magdo-donate bukas. Ano'ng dapat kong gawin?

Dude, tomorrow's my first time donating. What should I do?

  2. B

Pagkagising mo, mag-almusal ka muna. Huwag kang pumasok nang gutom.

As soon as you wake up, have breakfast first. Don't come in hungry.

  3. A

E 'yung karayom? Takot pa naman ako diyan.

And the needle? I'm scared of needles, you know.

  4. B

Habang kinukuhanan ka ng dugo, huwag kang tumingin. E bakit ka nga ba nag-sign up?

While they're drawing your blood, don't look. So why did you sign up, anyway?

  5. A

Ano kasi... si Mika ang in-charge sa blood drive.

Well, um... Mika's the one running the blood drive.

  6. B

Ayun naman! Puso pala ang ido-donate mo, hindi dugo.

So that's it! It's your heart you're donating, not your blood.
