Day 132 of 215

Day 132: The Patient Was a Nurse

At the barangay health center, the young doctor on duty (A) gets Mang Dencio (B), a retired nurse, ready for the free flu shot for senior citizens.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Mang Dencio, sa kaliwang braso po natin ituturok ang bakuna.

Mang Dencio, we'll give you the vaccine in your left arm.

  2. B

Teka, Dok, hintayin mo munang matuyo ang alcohol.

Wait, Doc, let the alcohol dry first.

  3. A

Opo. Nakakakaba po pala kapag nurse ang pasyente ko.

Yes. Turns out it's nerve-racking when my patient is a nurse.

  4. B

Pasensiya na, iho, nakasanayan ko na. Bilisan mo ang tusok para hindi masakit.

Sorry, iho, old habits. Make the jab quick so it doesn't hurt.

  5. A

Tapos na po. Masakit po ba?

    All done. Did it hurt?

  6. B

Wala nga akong naramdaman. Nakakatuwa ka, iho, mas maingat ka pa sa akin noon.

I didn't feel a thing. You're a delight, iho, even more careful than I was back then.
