Day 143 of 215

Day 143: Since the LRT Came South

Ralph (A) walks into their office in Ermita an hour late again after the traffic on the Coastal Road from Las Piñas, and finds his officemate Oliver (B) already at his desk.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Late na naman ako. Naipit ako sa Coastal Road.

I'm late again. I got stuck on the Coastal Road.

  2. B

Kanina pa hinahanap ni Boss 'yung report mo. Mag-LRT ka na lang kaya?

The boss has been looking for your report all morning. Why don't you just take the LRT?

  3. A

Malayo naman sa amin ang LRT, a.

The LRT's nowhere near our place, though.

  4. B

Sa Dr. Santos ako sumasakay mula noong nagbukas 'yon, malapit lang sa inyo.

I've been getting on at Dr. Santos ever since it opened. It's close to your place.

  5. A

Seryoso? Gaano katagal ang biyahe mo ngayon?

Seriously? How long is your commute now?

  6. B

Isang oras na lang. 'Yon nga lang, alas-singko y medya ako umaalis.

Just an hour. The only catch is, I leave at five-thirty.
