Day 144 of 215

Day 144: Her Turn in the Paluwagan

In the office pantry, Arlene (A), Precy (B) and Emil (C), who runs their paluwagan, count this month's contributions to the savings pool they share with their officemates.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Ako na ang kukuha ngayong buwan, 'di ba? Kumpleto na ba?

I'm the one collecting this month, right? Is everything in?

  2. B

Ako na lang ang hindi pa nakakahulog. Nakakahiya sa inyo.

I'm the only one who hasn't paid in yet. I'm so embarrassed.

  3. C

Ako muna ang mag-aabono, Precy. Bayaran mo na lang ako sa suweldo.

I'll cover you for now, Precy. Just pay me back on payday.

  4. B

Talaga, Emil? Ang bait mo naman, babayaran kita sa katapusan.

Really, Emil? That's so kind of you. I'll pay you back at the end of the month.

  5. A

Salamat, Emil! O, kumpleto na ang trenta mil.

Thanks, Emil! There, that's the full thirty thousand.

  6. C

Basta sa susunod na buwan, ako naman ang kukuha, ha!

Just remember, next month it's my turn!
