Day 172: Waiting for a Seat
At North Avenue station, Hilda (A) lets a packed MRT train leave without her, and her young coworker Kaye (B), who rides with her, worries they'll be late.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

A
Hayaan mo na 'yan, Kaye. Sa susunod na tayo.
Let that one go, Kaye. We'll take the next one.
-
B
Ate, lalo po tayong male-late kung maghihintay pa tayo.
Ate, we'll be even later if we wait.
-
A
Tatlong minuto lang 'yan. Nasa unahan na tayo, sigurado ang upuan.
It's only three minutes. We're at the front now, so we'll get seats for sure.
-
B
Okay lang naman po sa akin kahit nakatayo.
I don't mind standing.
-
A
Bata ka pa kasi. Subukan mong tumayo nang isang oras na naka-heels.
That's because you're young. Try standing for an hour in heels.
