Day 174 of 215

Day 174: The Bridal Car Is Tatay's Jeep

The day before his wedding, Celso (A), forty-two, finds out that his father, Emong (B), has polished up his old owner-type jeep to drive him and his bride, Amy, from the church.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Tay, bakit po may ribbon 'yung owner-type natin?

Dad, why is there a ribbon on our owner-type jeep?

  2. B

'Yan ang bridal car ninyo! Buong umaga kong pinakintab.

That's your bridal car! I spent all morning polishing it.

  3. A

Baka po tumirik papunta sa reception. Lalo po akong kakabahan!

It might break down on the way to the reception. That'll make me even more nervous!

  4. B

Hindi 'yan titirik, bago ang baterya. Saka mas maganda 'yan sa litrato!

It won't break down, the battery's new. Besides, it'll look better in the photos!

  5. A

Paano po kung itulak pa namin ni Amy 'yan, naka-gown at barong?

What if Amy and I end up pushing it, in a gown and a barong?

  6. B

E 'di lalong gaganda ang litrato! Kami nga ng nanay mo, nagtulak din noon.

Then the photos will look even better! Your mom and I had to push it too, back in the day.
