Day 175 of 215

Day 175: Allowance Gone by Wednesday

Raffy (B), fifteen, asks his older sister Jillian (A) for a hundred pesos: his weekly allowance is already gone, and it's only Wednesday.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Isang daan na naman? Pangatlo na 'to ngayong buwan!

Another hundred? That's the third time this month!

  2. B

Ubos na kasi 'yung baon ko. Ewan ko kung saan napunta.

My allowance is all gone. I don't know where it went.

  3. A

    Sige, isa-isahin natin. Ano'ng binibili mo araw-araw?

Okay, let's go through it. What do you buy every day?

  4. B

Pamasahe, siomai sa canteen, saka milk tea pag-uwi. 'Yon lang.

Fare, siomai at the canteen, and milk tea on the way home. That's it.

  5. A

Kaya pala ubos agad, dahil sa milk tea! Heto, pero Biyernes na lang ang milk tea.

So that's why it runs out so fast, it's the milk tea! Here, but milk tea is for Fridays only now.
