Day 97: Just a Scratch, He Says

Bong (A) got scratched by his own cat, and his mother Zeny (B) has brought him to the animal bite center, where Mary (C) is the nurse on duty.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Ma, kalmot lang po 'to. Sabon at tubig lang po, okay na.

Mom, it's just a scratch. Some soap and water, and it's fine.

  2. B

Mas mabuti na ang sigurado, anak.

    Better safe than sorry, son.

  3. C

Kayo po ba ang nakalmot? Bakunado po ba ang pusa?

Are you the one who got scratched? Is the cat vaccinated?

  4. A

Opo, pusa po namin. Bakunado naman po yata.

Yes, it's our cat. I think it's vaccinated.

  5. C

Kailangan pa rin po ng anti-rabies. Dapat po kayong bumalik sa Day 3 at Day 7.

You still need anti-rabies shots. You should come back on Day 3 and Day 7.

  6. B

O, sabon at tubig lang pala, ha?

So, just soap and water, huh?
