How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

  1. A

Ate Nelia, ano po ang sabi ng grupo? Puwede po ba akong mauna?

Ate Nelia, what did the group say? Can I go first?

  2. B

Itinanong nila kung gaano na kita katagal kilala, at sinabi nilang sa huli ka muna.

They asked how long I've known you, and they said you should go last for now.

  3. A

Ganoon po ba? Kailangan ko po kasi ng pang-tuition ng kapatid ko.

Is that so? It's just that I need money for my brother's tuition.

  4. B

Ganyan din ako noong bago ako. Sa huli rin ako nagsimula.

I was just like you when I was new. I started out last too.

  5. A

Sige po, sa huli na lang ako. Patutunayan ko pong mapagkakatiwalaan ako.

All right, I'll go last. I'll prove I can be trusted.

  6. B

    Ayan. Welcome sa grupo, Charmaine.

There you go. Welcome to the group, Charmaine.
