Day 157 of 185

Day 157: A Fundraiser Post for Lolo

In a hospital room in Manila where their grandfather, Lolo Nardo (C), is recovering from surgery, cousins Lovely (A) and Kayla (B) argue over whether to post an online fundraiser for his hospital bill.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Lolo's bill is getting huge, Kayla. Let's post a fundraiser.

  2. B

Ayoko.

No way. You know Lolo hates being pitied.

  3. A

It isn't pity. Plus, it's our titas abroad who keep asking where to send money.

  4. B

Then let's just give them the account number. All of Facebook doesn't need to know.

  5. C

Gising ako, mga apo. Narinig ko ang lahat.

I'm awake, girls. I heard everything.

  6. A

Sorry po, Lolo. Kayo po ang masusunod.

Sorry, Lolo. Whatever you say goes.

  7. C

Go ahead and post it, but use my wedding photo, not one of me lying here. And it's a loan, not charity.
