At a barbershop in Cubao, Brix (A) tells his friend Alden (B) what happened when he rode a jeepney home on payday.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

A
Pare, naiwan ko sa jeep ang wallet ko noong sahod, kasama ang buong suweldo ko.
Pare, I left my wallet on a jeepney on payday, with my whole paycheck in it.
-
B
Lahat? Paano nangyari 'yon?
All of it? How did that happen?
-
A
Nakatulog ako sa biyahe. Pagbaba ko sa Cubao, saka ko lang napansin na wala na sa bulsa ko.
I fell asleep on the ride. When I got off in Cubao, that's when I noticed it wasn't in my pocket anymore.
-
B
Hinabol mo ba 'yung jeep?
Did you chase the jeepney?
-
A
Wala na, ang layo na. Tapos kinagabihan, biglang nag-message sa akin sa Facebook 'yung driver!
No point, it was long gone. Then that night, out of nowhere, the driver messaged me on Facebook!
-
B
Alam mo bang nasa balita na kayo? Tingnan mo, yakap-yakap mo pa siya rito.
Did you know you two are in the news? Look, here you are hugging him.
-
A
Patingin! Bakit 'yung litrato pa na umiiyak ako ang pinili nila?
Let me see! Why did they have to pick the photo where I'm crying?
