Day 40 of 185

Day 40: Two Days Before the Boards

After the last session at a review center in Manila's university belt, Lito (A), the lecturer, asks Sarah (B) and Aira (C), two reviewees who are friends, if they have any last questions before the nursing board exam.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Dalawang araw na lang, ha. May huling tanong pa ba kayo?

Just two days to go. Any last questions?

  2. B

Sir, kung sakaling bumaha po, ano po ang gagawin namin?

Sir, what do we do if it floods?

  3. A

Sakaling ganoon, umalis kayo bago mag-alas-singko, dala ang permit at ID.

If that happens, leave home before five, with your permit and ID.

  4. C

Ay, Sir! Naiwan ko po 'yung valid ID ko sa Batangas City!

Oh no, Sir! I left my ID back in Batangas City!

  5. B

Ha? E 'di umuwi ka bukas, Aira, sasamahan kita.

What? Then go home tomorrow, Aira. I'll go with you.

  6. A

Sige, pero kung sakaling ma-late ang bus pabalik, mag-text kayo agad sa akin.

All right, but if your bus back runs late, text me right away.
