Day 65: Paperwork for North Carolina
In the faculty room of a public high school in Pasig, Agnes (A), an English teacher applying to teach in the United States, asks her co-teacher Karen (B), who taught in North Carolina for three years, what she should prepare.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

'Yung agency naman, sila na raw ang bahala sa lahat.
As for the agency, they say they'll take care of everything.

B
Magkano naman ang singil nila?
And how much are they charging?
-
A
Two hundred thousand, bayaran ko raw ngayong linggo para sigurado ang slot.
Two hundred thousand, and they want it this week to lock in my slot.
-
B
Huwag na huwag kang magbabayad hangga't wala pang kontrata. I-check mo muna sa DMW kung lisensiyado sila.
Don't you dare pay anything until there's a contract. Check with the DMW first whether they're licensed.
