Day 71 of 185

Day 71: A Career Inside the Walls

At the end of a hot day in Intramuros, Butch (A), who has worked as a tour guide there for twenty years, notices that Bryan (B), a guide for only three months, has gone quiet.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Bryan, ang tahimik mo. Napagod ka ba sa init?

Bryan, you're awfully quiet. Did the heat get to you?

  2. B

Kuya, can being a tour guide really be a career?

  3. A

It can, if you have a plan. Get your DOT accreditation so the travel agencies pick you.

  4. B

Is that all you did back then?

  5. A

I also learned Korean, so I'd have groups all year round.

  6. B

So that's why the tourists call you "Oppa"!
