Day 74 of 185

Day 74: Laundry Pickup for the Condos

At his laundry shop near the condo towers of Ortigas Center in Pasig, Ricky (A) talks business with his niece Patricia (B), who has just finished a business degree.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Ang daming nakatira sa condo, pero bihira ang nagpapalaba rito.

So many people live in the condos, but hardly any of them bring their laundry here.

  2. B

Puyat po kasi ang mga call center agent. Kunin po natin ang labada nila para hindi na sila lumabas.

The call center agents never get enough sleep. Let's pick up their laundry so they don't have to go out.

  3. A

Tayo pa ang kukuha? Paano tayo kikita niyan?

We'd go and fetch it? How would we make money doing that?

  4. B

Mag-alok po tayo ng weekly package, nang sa gayon ay maging suki na natin sila.

Let's offer a weekly package, so they become our regulars.

  5. A

Sige, pero iisa lang ang motor ko. Sino ang magpi-pickup?

Okay, but I've only got one motorcycle. Who's going to do the pickups?

  6. B

Kayo po, Tito. Ako na po ang magbabantay sa shop.

You, Tito. I'll mind the shop.
