Day 105 of 160

Day 105: Off the Air With Teodora

In a podcast studio in Quezon City, Tricia (A), the young host of a literary podcast, is wrapping up her interview with Teodora (B), an elderly novelist, about today's bestsellers.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

  1. A

Ma'am Teodora, what do you think of today's bestsellers?

  2. B

The novel is a mirror of society. However, many of today's books seem rushed: easy to read, and just as easy to forget.

  3. A

Napakagandang pangwakas po niyan. Maraming salamat po, Ma'am Teodora!

What a beautiful note to end on. Thank you so much, Ma'am Teodora!

  4. B

Whew, it's finally over! Iha, pass me the coffee, my jaw aches from saying "however" so much.

  5. A

You were wonderful! What about you, what are you reading these days?

  6. B

Mas marami pa akong isinusulat kaysa binabasa, iha.

These days I write more than I read, iha. I have fan fiction online, just under a different name.

  7. A

Are you serious? What's your pen name? I might have read it!

  8. B

I'm not telling! I post a chapter every night, more rushed than the books I just criticized.
