Day 127: The Lakambini's House
At the Bahay Nakpil-Bautista in Quiapo, Manila, guide Norman (A) finishes his tour talk on Gregoria de Jesus, the Lakambini of the Katipunan, and Precy (B), a schoolteacher in the group, stays behind to talk to him.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

A
In closing, it was Gregoria de Jesus who safeguarded the documents of the Katipunan.
-
B
Sir, it's embarrassing to admit, but my students don't know who she is.
-
A
Actually, Ma'am, most people are the same: they know Bonifacio, but not his wife.
-
B
It's true. In our textbook she gets one paragraph, next to Bonifacio's picture.

A
Bring them here. It'll stick better once they've seen where she lived.
-
B
I'd love to, but there are forty-five of them, and the rooms here are small.
-
A
We can manage that, three groups of fifteen. And I'll do a tour where Gregoria's the star.

Thank you! And have your answer ready for their first question: is this place haunted?
