Day 152: Sell the Hot Spring Resort?
In the office of the family's hot spring resort in Pansol, Calamba, siblings Emma (A), Bernard (B) and Marissa (C) meet over a developer's offer to buy the resort their parents built.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio for this lesson is coming soon. For now, read the dialogue and its translation.

A
Are we really selling to the developer? Didn't Mama and Papa work hard for this?
-
B
What if we lose money again this year? The resort's been nothing but expenses for three years, Ate.
-
A
Aren't we full every Saturday? Why give up now, when the guests are coming back?
-
B
Full on Saturdays, but Monday to Friday, we're the only ones in the pools. Who's going to pay for the new pipes?
-
A
Paano kung pagsisihan natin? Kapag naibenta na, hindi na natin mababawi.
What if we regret it? Once it's sold, we can't get it back.
-
C
What if we lease it to the developer instead? They pay for the pipes, and the land stays ours.
-
B
You were so quiet earlier, and that's what you had in mind. Still waters run deep.
-
A
Pero papayag kaya sila sa upa lang? Gusto nila, sila ang may-ari.
But would they settle for a lease? They want to own it.
-
C
I asked them yesterday. They're willing, if we offer it to them first should we ever sell.
