How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Tagalog. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

  1. A

Miss Via, this is Attorney Ruben, the head of Legal.

  2. B

Good morning. Sorry, I'm still on edge about the bar results.

  3. C

Under the Labor Code, the probationary period is up to six months, and in connection with that, your work will be reviewed every month.

  4. A

The contract also states the standards you'll need to meet to become a regular employee.

  5. B

I understand. I just have one request: if I pass, could I take leave for the oath-taking?

  6. C

Here, probationary employees don't get leave yet. But for an occasion like that, it's hard to say no.

  7. A

Attorney, shall I write it in? One day of leave, in connection with her oath-taking as a lawyer.

  8. C

Isulat mo, at may bayad.

Write it in, and make it paid. It's good to have a lawyer who owes us one.

  9. B

Thank you! But please add "if I'm lucky," in case I jinx it.
